It’s no surprise that Grand Theft Auto V is an expensive game to make. With years of development and tons of content, there’s just no way Rockstar’s soon to be hit was going to be cheap. But is it the most expensive game yet in the industry? It sounds like it, according to the dollar figure presented by The Scotsman.

A report from The Scotsman says that GTA V will rack up a major £170 million for the title’s development and marketing budget. That’s roughly$265 million, which VR-Zone notes is very close to the budget of a blockbuster Hollywood hit like Pirates of the Carribean: At World’s End at $300 million. And it’s still over the budget for Star Wars: The Old Republic which is apparently behind GTA V’s budget with $200 million.

While the budget is insanely high, Rockstar is looking to see some impressive numbers. It’s said that the game has already garnered 2.5 million preorders on both PS3 and X360. Industry experts think that the game will sell 25 million copies in its first year with sales of  £1 billion. That’s nearly $1.6 billion in US dollars.
