The New Mexico Environment Department has finally given the go-ahead for a search of the former landfill site where several million unsold copies of Atari’s E.T. video game are thought to be buried.

Seems kinda pointless since they’re just worthless pieces of plastic by now.  It’s not like we don’t have access to old Atari games.

I find it kind of ironic that a guy who hasn’t been relevant in the video game industry for decades is making this proclamation.

Atari Founder Nolan Bushnell has proclaimed Nintendo’s doom once again in an interview with the BBC last week.

Bushnell has been vocal on Nintendo and the industry in the past, and more recently he drew comparisons between the Atari Jaguar console and the currently struggling Wii U console. He told the BBC that Nintendo was “in a very difficult position”. He feels that dedicated game-only devices don’t “make sense anymore” and that Nintendo are on a “path to irrelevance”.

As in, Asteroids the old Atari 2600 game.  I’d watch it.

Conan sucks at video games.  Pitfall was a great game.
